

Dick graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School, served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, and retired from Alabama Power Company in 1988 after 42 years of service. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Gardendale, a member of various masonic lodges throughout his lifetime, a member of the Shriners for many years and was devoted to supporting freemasonry most of his adult life. He was also an avid fan of the University of Alabama football program.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ellen Joan Belcher; his parents Roy and Lillie McCarty Belcher; sisters Mary Ozelene Todd and Lula Wear; brothers Gradis, Herschell, Eldridge and Russell Belcher; daughter-in-law, Kim Belcher; granddaughter Michelle Logan; great grandson Blaine Logan. He is survived by his sons, Mark(Martha), Richard(Donna), David and Geoffrey(Miriam); grandchildren Nathan, Jared, Daniel, Grant, Leah, Gavin, Jackson and Claire Belcher; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Rideout’s Gardendale Chapel with visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. Graveside will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Gardendale.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
