Roy was a beloved member of his family and community. He attended the day program at the Arc of Central Alabama and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Gardendale. Roy enjoyed watching television and playing softball with the Miracle League of Central Alabama for several years. He also enjoyed going on vacations with his parents and attending the Owls Bible Study Group with his mom on Thursday mornings.
Roy’s sister wants him to be remembered for the joy he brought to others through his great big bear hugs and his big, contagious smile.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lynda Driver; his grandparents, Reverend Roy and Mary Driver, June and Paul Fogel, and Lola Delashmit; his uncle, Ronnie Driver; and his aunt, Demarise Sargent.
Roy is survived by his brother, Michael Driver of Birmingham; his sister, Amanda (Mark) Adams of Mt. Olive; his aunts, Terri (Dan) Duer, Donna Brady, and Michelle (Miles) Bruner; his uncles, Gary (Marelle) Fogel and Jason Delashmit of Missouri; and a handful of cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Moerbe officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, Roy’s sister asks that donations be made to Good Shepherd’s Renovation Fund in Roy’s memory.
Amanda would like to give a special thank you to Roy’s case manager, Josh Lane, for all his years of dedication to Roy.
“Roy loved you and would always talk about you. You will always hold a special place in my heart.”
