Ruby Fretwell Meadows

Ruby was born April 2, 1927 in Lawrence County, Alabama. She was one of five sisters. She graduated from Hatton High School where she met and married the love of her life and they built a wonderful life together.

She was a member of Forestdale Free Will Baptist Church where she and Ray worshipped and fellowshipped. She retired after working many years in sales. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved her husband with all her heart. She loved her daughters dearly and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with all of her family, friends and her wonderful neighbors who have been such a blessing.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Meadows; her parents, Elmer and Novella Fretwell; daughter, Patricia Ann Harbison; her sisters, Louise Burks (Bill), Eloise Houston (Roy), Nadine Appleton (Ray) and Syble NeSmith (Milton).

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Freda Brundage (DuWain); son-in-law, Terry Don Harbison; her grandchildren: Kristie Wix (Keith), Brandon Harbison (Kim), Aaron Moore (Sarah); her great grandchildren: Tyler Wix, Haley Sue Harbison Evans (Anthony), Bo Harbison (Aubree), Tanner Wix (Kaylee), Doc Moore, Luna Mayorga; and great-great grandson: JAE Evans.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, Alabama 35071. Visitation begins at Noon. Service at 1:00 p.m.

Final resting place will be at Moncrief Cemetery.
