Shirley Ann Handley

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Handley on January 26, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 15, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama, Shirley lived a full life of love, grace, and faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Shirley retired from Martin Marietta, where she was known for her strong work ethic and genuine care for others. As a true southern lady, her warmth, kindness, and hospitality left lasting impressions on everyone she met.

A devoted wife and mother, caring not only for her own family but her extended family as well, she was a cornerstone of strength and comfort always.

In her free time, Shirley enjoyed working in her yard, ceramics and painting. She also enjoyed sharing her creativity with others.

She was a faithful member of the Gardendale Church of Christ, Shirley was actively involved in the church and taught Sunday school for many years, nurturing young hearts and minds in the love of Christ.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Handley, daughter Cathy Handley, parents Arthur and Mary Elizabeth (Lewis) Myrick, brother Arthur Myrick Jr, sisters, Dorthy Jean Churchwell, Carol Henley, Tina Myrick, nephew David Henley, niece Lisa Henley.

She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Judy Churchwell, Jan (Myrick) Hogan (Alan),

Kellie (Brand) Hulgan, Beth (Brand) Martin (Charlie), Tom Churchwell (Jill), Dan Churchwell (Tammy), Donny Henley (Dana), Lamar Myrick (Pam), Roger Myrick (Belinda).

Also several great nieces and nephews and sister-in-love Jeanette Myrick, daughter-in-love Tonya Ozbolt.

Shirley will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and enduring love.

A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel 2029 Decatur Hwy Gardendale Al, 35071 on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 1:00pm service at 2:00pm
