Shirley Peoples

June 11, 1942 – May 26, 2016

Shirley Peoples, of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully at the age of 73. Shirley was an avid fan of Country Music and Alabama football. She worked at Mannequins Inc. of Birmingham and Bebco Electric of Birmingham. She was the perfect homemaker, mother and wife.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William Clyde Smith and Opal Dobbs Smith; brothers, Ben T. Smith, Kenneth R. Smith and Frank D. Smith.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Dwight S. Peoples; her much loved and devoted son, Carl D. Peoples; brothers, John Michael Smith, Ronald D. Smith and Chester L. Smith; sisters, Wilma B. Yarbrough, Peggy S. Weems, Mary Tidwell, Diane S. Frazier, Renee Schmitt, Teresa S. Erwin, Lori Ellyn Steber and Sue Wills; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and a host of friends.

Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Saturday, May 28, 2016 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm; funeral service at 2:00pm followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
