Sidney Andrew Love, 83, was born on November 7, 1939, in Gardendale, AL, to John Kennedy Love, Sr and Mary Carolina Campbell Love. In 1959, he fell in love and determined he was going to marry Evelyn Juanita Adams after having her potato salad. They reconnected in 1961 in El Paso, TX, and Sidney started sneaking her away for lunch “dates” on Scenic Drive. Finally, on January 23, 1963, they married.
Over the next eight years, three daughters came along: Barbara Renee, Amy Caroline, and Lisa Dawn. Sidney and Evelyn were married for 60 years until his passing on October 20, 2023. While building their family, Sidney grew to love Evelyn with all his might and they both worked together to have a relationship and love that understood sacrifice, compromise, selflessness, and never giving up on each other.
Sidney was a member of North Gardendale Church of Christ for over 40 years. His faith and belief are what centered him and was a true part of who he was and that is why we all know he is Heaven bound.
Among those who knew him personally, Sidney built a reputation and was characterized as “a good man”. His love for all his family and friends was always on display through jokes, notes, love letters, poems, never hesitating to tell us his feelings or to give us a hug or a kiss.
Sidney leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn. Surviving with his wife, are his daughters: Barbara Renee Martin (Jeff); Amy Love Mayfield (Jamie); and Lisa Love Waren (Mark). Sidney is also survived by his sister, Dianna McCarty (Lonnie).
In addition to his wife and daughters, Sidney leaves behind a legacy of The Best PawPaw in the World to 5 grandchildren: Jamee Love (Brandy), Jennifer Ledward (Christian), Stephanie O’Neil (Sean), Lindley Seagle (Chris), and Sydney Mayfield, and 11 great-grandchildren all of whom he loved with his whole heart.
The family will receive loved ones and friends on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel for visitation in the Fireside Room from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with Graveside Services immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to one of their favorite charities:
