I AM GOD IS... who saved a wretch like me. Steve Lee Cannon amazingly graced this earth for 73 years. Steve was born on August 2, 1946 to Arthur and Lucy Cannon. He was preceded by his parents and his sister, Myra Whisenant. Survivors include his daughters Sabina Cannon-Andrews and Heather Cannon, his cat Pale Ale, niece and nephew William and Lynn Whisenant, aunt Dorothy Campbell, and cousins Dan Rhoades, Patricia Pate, Claudette Standridge. He served his country in the United States Air Force, the Birmingham Police Department, and proudly retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 312 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Unity Church of Birmingham. Steve transitioned on Thursday May 16, 2019 and is probably making PEACE SOUP with Jerry Bartholow (and you know WHO) along with anyone who has loved him, and he has loved or friended in his long life. Steve was an avid music lover, lived life on his own terms, and when things got rough, as he often used to say, “You’ll have days like that on the big jobs.” He graced our lives with his generosity, laughter, and unending spirit. He will be greatly missed by those of us left behind.
A memorial service for Steve will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071
