

Travis L. Turner, age 89 passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013. A native of Fayette County, he had lived in Birmingham and Gardendale since 1946. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in WW II in the European Theatre in the Battle of the Buldge. Travis was a member of the Walker Chapel Baptist Church and the Local 91 Plumbers and Steamfitters, Gardendale Masonic Lodge No, 907 York Right, Scottish Right, Zomara Shrine Temple, Nights of Mecca Unit Distric Lecturer Group 3 and District 21. He was twice Past Master of Wahouma Lodge Member of Order of Eastern Star Past Worther Pateren, as well as Vice President of Retirees ClubLocal 91.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 70 years, Pauline Lee Turner; a son, Richard L. Turner; a grandson; three great grandchildren; and a brother, Leburn Turner of Houston, TX. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7th from 6 until 8 PM at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with funeral services to follow Friday at 11 AM in the Chapel. Brother Othel Phillips will officiate.There will be a Masonic Service at the Chapel. Emtombment will follow in the Oakwood Mausoleum.
