

Truman was widely admired for his genuine kindness & his readiness to support or help anyone in need. He took great joy in uplifting others and made a lasting difference in many lives, not only with his work with Borden & Brewster Contractors but also in the relationships that he had with friends and family.
He is survived by his son Barry Ryan Borden (DeeLana) & his daughter Leslie Nicol Borden who will cherish his memory always. Truman was a devoted grandfather to 3 granddaughters, Lexi R., Alena R., and Lizzie R. Borden, and 1 grandson, Barron R. Borden, all of whom he deeply loved; and a devoted brother to his living sisters, Fredia Nell Joiner, Sharon Faye Sparks, Shelby Jean Thomason, and Dorothy Annette Michael.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ervin Borden, Mother Jennie Mae Borden Hovater, and a grandson, Barry Tanner Borden; brothers, Billy Wayne Borden, James Randel Borden, Charles Kelsey Borden; and sister, Janet Carol Smallwood.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel in Gardendale, Alabama on June 25th, 2026 from 4pm-6pm. Family and friends are invited to come as they are. Truman preferred everyone to be comfortable rather than formal, encouraging guests to share stories, smile and recall the wonderful moments spent with him.
Truman will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
