Vachel Homer (V. H.) Wilson Jr.

VACHEL HOMER (V. H.) WILSON, JR., of Birmingham passed away March 20, 2012. Born on March 31, 1927, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Louise Reese Wilson. He is survived by his 3 children, Michael D. Wilson, Susan Gail (Rodney) McCleney, Linda K. Wilson, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. During WWII, he served in the Navy, afterward in the Army Corps of Engineers, and then graduated from Auburn University. Scout Master of West End Boy Scout troop 74 for 7 years, a founding member of Smoke Rise United Methodist Church, and regular supporter of Auburn University, he worked 30 years at Alabama Power Company. He was president of his West End High School graduating class and maintained many of those friendships, organizing reunions and regular get-togethers. He was a caring, supportive father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
