Vallie Mae Haney Shipp, a resident of Hayden, Alabama was born on April 1, 1941 and she passed away peacefully on July 10, 2018 at the age of 77. Vallie graduated from Woodlawn High School. She had a long career in the banking industry where she started part time at BTNB in Gardendale, Alabama. She retired from National Bank of Commerce as a Vice President and was the Head of Security and Audit. It was during her employment with NBC that she went to college (in her forties) and graduated, magna cum laude, from Birmingham Southern, with a degree in Financing. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist church and she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.
Vallie was preceded in death by her parents, JT Haney and Ethel Haney Floyd.
Vallie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lionel Shipp, her two sons, Patrick Shipp and Ronnie Shipp; her daughter, Robin Pounders and her husband, Jimmy Pounders; her brother, Tommy Haney; brother-in-law, Leslie Shipp; her granddaughter, Montana Pounders; several nieces, a nephew, and a host of dear friends.
Services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2427 Corner Road, Warrior, Alabama on Friday, July 13, 2018 with a time of visitation to begin at 3:00 pm; funeral service at 5:00pm followed by her burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Service will be officiated by Rev. Sammie Reid and Rev. Jacky Connell.
