

Vicki Cheryl Mayse, born Vicki Cheryl Combs on November 2, 1946, in Logan, West Virginia, peacefully passed away on January 15, 2024, at the age of 77 in Warrior, Alabama. She was a beloved wife, mother, and gamma, leaving behind a legacy that will be forever cherished.
Vicki's impact on the lives of those around her was immeasurable. As an educator and librarian at Hayden High School in Hayden, Alabama, she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Her dedication to her profession and her unwavering commitment to fostering a love for learning will always be remembered.
In addition to her career, Vicki was a devoted servant of God and a member of Spirit Life Church in Cullman, Alabama. Her faith was a source of inspiration and strength, and she lived her life as a testament to her beliefs.
Outside of work and her religious community, Vicki had a variety of interests and hobbies. She enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and immersing herself in different cultures. A voracious reader, she found solace and joy in the pages of books. But above all, Vicki had a heart for taking care of others. Her selflessness and kindness were evident in her interactions with family, friends, and even strangers.
Vicki's memory will be forever cherished by her surviving loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband, Asa Mayse, her son Shawn Flanagan, her granddaughter Tiffany White, her great-granddaughter Amaya Mayse White, and her beloved pup Molly Mae. She was preceded in death by her father, The Reverend Ova Combs, her mother, Helen (Lockhart) Combs, her brother Emory Jay Combs, her brother Danny Ray Combs, and her sister Patricia Martiemae (Combs) DeLancey.
Vicki was also blessed with a wonderful extended family of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved; nephew, Shannon DeLancey; nephew, Bryan DeLancey (Frances); niece Tasha Renee (DeLancey) Barlow (Scott); niece Martie Gay DeLancey; niece Kandice (Combs) Paradise (Rob); niece Kassandra Combs; nephew Scottie Ison (Maryclaire); niece Dretha (Ison) Fennell (Justin).
A service of remembrance will be scheduled for a later date to honor Vicki's life and legacy. The details will be shared once finalized. During this challenging time, your prayers and support are deeply appreciated by the family.
