On Saturday morning January 25, 2020, our sweet precious mother and Mamaw slipped these surly bonds of earth and moved to her heavenly home. After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, she succumbed to this terrible disease, she died at home surrounded by love.
Our hearts are broken but we take comfort in knowing she is in the hands of God and reunited with loved ones who have gone before; her husband, Holt G. Richey, son, Tim Roger Richey, grandsons,
Roger Bradberry, Keith Richey, Steve Bradberry, and great grandson, Blake Bradberry. Also her parents, Homer C. Rogers and Cora E. Rogers, sister, Clara Lovvorn, brothers, Cranford Rogers,
Vernon Rogers and Jake Rogers.
Survived by daughters, Janice Bradberry and Linda Patton (Frank), sisters Maxine Coleman and Ellen Rogers. Grandchildren, Ricky Bradberry, Jeff Bradberry (Cassandra), Greg Shelton (Katrina), Scott Shelton (Lori), Tim Richey (Maria), Susan Hogeland (Stan), Jill McRee, and Janet Collard (Tom). Great grandchildren, Chad Shelton (Kellie), Kara Shelton, Jeremy Shelton, Joe Hunkler (Amber), Shane Hunkler, Brad Hunkler (Neeley), Amanda Brown,
Kaleb Owens (Lindsay), Ricky Bradberry, Krista Bradberry, Marshall Bradberry, Brianna Bradberry, Don Bradberry
(Hannah), Timothy Richey (Anna), Joshua Richey, Keith Hogeland (Diana), Krisy Hogeland Handley (Chase), Mia Richey Muench (Seth), Jacob Richey (Madison) and Cole Richey, as well as 25 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She had a kind and loving heart and showered her family and friends with love and devotion. She loved to cook so when visiting, almost every family member made their first stop at the refrigerator to see what delicious treat she had waiting there. She enjoyed cooking almost as much as she loved Crimson Tide football. She never missed a game on television or radio, and had her book in hand to record every detail of the game. If anyone ever needed any details from a previous game, they could always call Mamaw, she had it in her book.
Almost nothing in life truly lasts – except our memories. It’s the unforgettable moments that touched and shaped us into the person we are today. Our family has so many precious memories of this incredibly special woman that we will carry in our hearts forever. No one is truly gone as long as they live in the hearts of those who love them.
The family will receive guests for visitation at Ridouts Gardendale Chapel , 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL on Friday evening, January 31, 2020, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February l, 2020, also at Ridouts Gardendale Chapel, Pastor Johnny Allred officiating.
