Wanza W. Guthrie, age 88 of Alabaster, AL and formerly of Tarrant, AL passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015. She lived in the Tarrant area and enjoyed cooking and operating her restaurant business for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen L. “Red” Guthrie; two stepdaughters, Sue McConnell and Charlotte Wilhite; sons, Ronald Henry Wood, Steven Wayne Wood, and stepson Bobby Joe Guthrie; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Wood; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Vertice L. “Sonny” Wood; her daughters, Manya McKeever (Jimmy), and Gina Horton (Gene); six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; a sister, Mattie Lou Summerford.
Chapel funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel beginning at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.
