William E. Fields

William E. Fields, age 90 of Gardendale, AL passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. Mr. Fields proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines (Pacific Theatre). He retired after many years of service to Jefferson County and was a longtime member of Gardendale’s Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Mr. Fields was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mabelyne Elliott Fields. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Fields McKinney (Doug); his granddaughter, Megan DiPiazza (Mark); and great grandchildren, Devin DiPiazza and Piper DiPiazza; a brother, James W. Fields (Nell).

Services will be held on Thursday at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Walker’s Chapel Cemetery in Fultondale. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to your favorite charity in William Fields honor. They would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of Fairhaven Nursing Home and Optum Hospice for their loving care and service.
