William “Bill” Koss, age 73 years old, passed away on August 15, 2020. Bill was born on June 28, 1947 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and graduated from Hueytown High School in 1966. He graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1977. He married the love of his life, Janice Higginbotham Koss on June 10, 1969. Bill served in the Army from 1969-1971, including serving in Vietnam.
Bill was a faithful servant of Christ. He unselfishly fulfilled any need at his church or for his neighbors or friends.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and watching sports (especially Alabama and the Braves). He never met a stranger and was always ready to share a story.
Bill worked many years at U. S. Steel and retired from the United States Postal Service. He also enjoyed a seasonal part-time job of workings in the ticket office at the Birmingham Barons for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie Koss. Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice Koss; son Barry (Lori) Koss of Hoover, AL; daughter Kelly (Scott) Douglas of Hueytown AL; grandson Colby Koss of Hoover, AL; brothers Terry (Laura) Koss Of McCall, AL and Kenny (Janet Beasley) Koss of Florence, Al; sister Ann (Perry) Redmond of of Maryville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 18th. Visitation will be at Hughes Memorial Baptist Church in Pinson from 2-3 pm. A graveside service will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:30 pm. Rev. Scott Douglas officiating.
