William "Tooter" Fletcher Martin

William “Tooter” Fletcher Martin, age 68 of Gardendale, AL passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Tooter was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother-in-law who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. He was employed with Bayliss Machine and Welding for over 45 years and retired in 2009, and they were like his second family. He always had a work ethic that served as an example for all to follow. He was also a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Gardendale. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Lee and Geneva Dowda Martin; a son, William F. Martin, Jr.; brother, James W. Martin, Sr.; a sister, Nona Lee McKinney; nephews, Steven A. Martin, Jon C. Martin, Robert Earl McKinney, and James R. Sanders III. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 16 ½ years, Mary M. Martin, his sons, Timothy W. Martin (Elayne) and David Dustin Martin; his wonderful grandchildren, Dustin Cody Martin, Alexandria Elaine Martin, Ella Nicole Neubert, Natalie Hines Neubert, Kendon Dwayne Branch, Kensli Maria Branch, Kassi Denise Branch, and Karson Anthony Branch; a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4th, 2013 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 2 PM with a visitation from 12:30 until service time. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Vitas Hospice for their care and service. In lieu of flowers it was Tooter’s wish that donations be made to Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Youth Group, 805 Crest Drive, Gardendale, AL 35071.
