Willie Ruth Madaris

Willie Ruth Madaris, age 91, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away peacefully on Friday October, 14, 2022, at North Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 3, 1941. She was a graduate of Tarrant High School.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patti Madaris and is survived by her daughters, Debbie Madaris, Kim Madaris and Penny Goodwin; son, Mike Madaris. She was also survived by her grandchildren and their families - Kelly Samples, Carmelita Hudgens, Elijah Madaris, Noah Madaris, and Ailyn Madaris.

She lived a full and joyful life that reflected the challenges brought with the decades of her time. In the 1950’s and 60’s she married, gave birth to four girls and a boy and traveled to several places across the country, finally settling back home in Birmingham, Alabama. All the while she was a resourceful and quite clever Mom and homemaker. She loved to sew and was very accomplished at it. Her sense of humor shone through the good times and the bad while her sense of determination made sure everyone was fed, clothed and out the door on time. She was known to knockdown walls, move refrigerators, dig ditches, in other words, if it needed doing, she would do it! She may have served you a cup of hot coffee during her time as a waitress at the Gardendale Omelette Shoppe. Maybe she chatted with you before or after church service. Her unwavering faith in God was a strong part of who she was. Hopefully you were blessed with her presence along the way.

This is a tribute to our Mother’s wonderful life. There were hardships among joyful times, she weathered them all in her own personal way.

Heaven is an even happier place with the arrival of her and her infectious laughter.

Her family extends warm gratitude to the caregivers who lovingly tended to her for the last several years.

A graveside service for Willie will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Moncrief Cemetery, 2055 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL 35071.
