WYNELLE SMITH DAVIS, 90, Gardendale, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 4, 1932, in St. Clair County, she attended Ashville High School and graduated in 1950. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in English from Trevecca Nazarene College before eventually earning a Master’s Degree in Education from UAB, and teaching high school English for 21 years with the Blount County School system. Wynelle was a devout woman of faith and was devoted to the Nazarene Church. She lived her entire life to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Known to her grandchildren as “Nana,“ they often describe her as the most joyful person they’ve ever known. Wynelle is predeceased by her parents, Wallace and Mamie Smith; husband, Bobby Davis, Sr.; daughter, Daun Aaron; son, Stan Davis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eloise (Willie Mac) Campbell, Janice (Billy) Pope, Judy (Max) Hobgood, Rubye (Donald) Wilson; nephews, Danny Mac Campbell, Greg Hobgood, Brent Wilson; and niece, Rita Campbell. Surviving are son, Bobby Davis, Jr. (Meleah); daughter-in-law, Doreen Davis; son-in-law, Don Aaron; grandchildren, Caleb Davis, Cate Ann Davis (fiancé Wade Gardner), Shearl Tidd, Emily Davis (fiancé Joshua Andrews), Thomas Davis, Michella Minyard (fiancé Travis Norris), and Abigail Aaron; brothers-in-law, James Perry, Jerry Davis Sr. (Teena), and nieces, Lori (Kirk) Howell, Pam Pope, and Gina Wilson. The family will receive friends at Gardendale Ridout’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M., with the funeral beginning at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Caleb Davis, Thomas Davis, Wade Gardner, Joshua Andrews, Travis Norris, and Bobby Blair.
