Betty was born in Jackson, Ohio, to Everett and Thelma (Wood) Perry on September 4, 1925. She was the middle child of five and helped the family through the hardships of the Great Depression and WWII by working small jobs around town. A few years after high school, she met and married the love of her life, Charles Copenhaver, and soon gave birth to her only child, Steven. The family moved to Houston, Texas, in the early 1950s where Betty worked as an Executive Secretary for Continental Canning Company for more than 30 years. While in Houston, Betty and Charles faithfully attended Berachah Church. The couple retired to San Marcos where they spent time traveling, cooking, reading and gardening. In 2000, Betty and Charles moved to Georgetown to be closer to their son in the twilight years of their life.
Betty was an avid reader and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed spending time with family, sharing stories and imparting wisdom. Betty was a strong Christian woman who strived to live her life by the Ten Commandments.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and all four of her siblings, her husband of 69 years, Charles, and her son Steven, who died just 10 weeks prior to Betty. She is survived by her grand-daughter Julie Copenhaver of Round Rock, Texas, her daughter-in-law, Janet Copenhaver of Round Rock, Texas, and many great-nieces and nephews of the Perry Family in Ohio.
A Graveside Service will be held at Our Lady of The Rosary in Georgetown on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00am.
