Carl "Sonny" Wade Gattis

Carl “Sonny” Wade Gattis, 88 of Georgetown, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at his home in Georgetown.He was born April 19, 1930, in Georgetown, the son of Wade and Blanche (Carlson) Gattis. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1949, also attending Southwestern University and U.T. Austin.From 1951 to 1953 Carl served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal in the Military Police. He married his wife, Dorothy (Gibbs) Gattis on June 21, 1954 also inheriting 2 brothers and 5 sisters. After attending Dunway School of Accounting, Carl worked as an Accountant for more than 50 years at Corporate Accounting in Austin. He retired in 1997 and worked by contract until 2013. Carl enjoyed studying genealogy and working cattle. His family was a pioneer of Williamson County. He was a member St. John’s United Methodist Church and attended Georgetown Church of Christ.He is preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife Dorothy Fay Gibbs Gattis, son, Carl Gattis Jr. and wife Julie; daughter, Jeanne Reese and husband John; four grandchildren, Allen Reese, Jacob Reese, Cameron Gattis and wife Alexandra, Travis Gattis and wife Amber; and two great grandsons, Loken Gattis and Isaac Gattis.A memorial service will be held 10AM, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory with Tim Curtis officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6 to 8PM at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgetown Church of Christ Benevolence Fund, or St. Johns United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice.
