Carol Diane Melnar (née Baranowski), 77, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025. Born and raised in Houston, she was proud of her Polish and German roots and came into the world with a generous heart and a spirit that made people feel instantly welcome. Over the years, she touched countless lives with her big personality, her steadfast faith, and her deep love for family and friends. If she spoke to a stranger for more than 10 minutes, she would figure out who they were both friends with.
Carol was the devoted wife of Dennis Melnar, her partner in every sense of the word. Together they built a life grounded in love, loyalty, and shared purpose. She was a loving mother to Darren and his wife Krista, Brad and his wife Natalie, and Kari and her husband Luke. As “Maw Maw,” she took immense pride in her grandchildren—Audrey, Lilly, Issac, Owen, Jase, and Anna—each one a source of joy she carried close to her heart.
She is also survived by her sister and brother, Janice and Tony Baranowski. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Ann Baranowski, whose memory remained with her throughout her life.
Family was truly at the center of everything Carol did. She cherished every chance to visit her grandchildren, spend time with cousins, and gather with extended family. Whether sharing stories around the table, “group texts” or laughing together during holidays, those moments meant the world to her. She nurtured her relationships with a warmth and loyalty that made everyone feel valued.
Carol dedicated many years to caring for her family and serving her community. She worked as a full-time mother, a teacher’s aide at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Austin, and later in the administration office at Leander ISD. Her commitment, kindness, and steady presence earned her lasting friendships and the respect of coworkers. After retiring, she continued to embraced life—traveling, visiting loved ones, and supporting Dennis on the family farm.
An avid Texas Longhorns fan, Carol never missed a chance to cheer on her team. Her excitement—win or lose—brought energy to family gatherings and made game days especially fun.
Carol will be remembered for her gentle strength, her compassion, and the way she always seemed to know when someone needed comfort or encouragement. She gave freely of herself, through kind words, thoughtful gestures, and the warmth of her embrace. Her legacy is one of grace, love, and unwavering faith.
Visitation and a Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 5–7 PM at The Gabriels Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 12 at 10 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home, Texas, with burial and a reception to follow.
