Charles (Chuck) Bennett Fischer, 94, of Georgetown, passed away November 22. He was born June 25, 1921, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Ella and Rudolph A. Fischer. Chuck served our country during World War II before he graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. While attending West Virginia University, he met Marian Rohr, whom was the love of his life and on June 28, 1947, became his wife. Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Robert Rohr Fischer, and wife, Marian Rohr Fischer. He worked as a Chemical Engineer for Texaco and Kaiser for over 30 years. He served the community as an active member of the Georgetown Lions Club and was a free mason for over 50 years. Chuck enjoyed boating, golfing, collecting stamps and making people laugh. He was always curious about life and wanted to learn more. Chuck was a role model, an inspiration and a hero, but above all else, he was a family man who always put his family and loved ones first. He believed that everyone be treated equally, and therefore gave everyone the same respect. His positive outlook and leadership were second to none, but what will be missed the most is his contagious sense of humor. He was always able to see the bright side in any situation. He believed in those who couldn’t believe in themselves. He would put the entire world on his back when a loved one became too tired or too weak to carry on. He showed that strength isn’t always measured in numbers, but instead can be determined by the character of one’s morality. Chuck has lived all over the country and even spent some time living in South America, but wherever Marian and the kids were was home. He would state, “I never felt married, I always thought of our marriage merely as the longest and best date ever.” His laughter, heard by many, could guide light into the darkest of times. To cherish his eternal memory, Chuck leaves behind his children, Charles B. Fischer, Jr. and Mindy Fischer Marks with husband Chris Marks; grandchildren, Michael Marks, Matthew Marks, Robert Rohr Fischer with wife Katheryn Fischer, Thomas Gordon Fischer, Maria Gabriela Fischer and Carlos Fischer; along with many other loving family members and friends. Visitation for Chuck will be at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 25. The service will follow at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015.
