Charles James Gilmore, Jr., passed away peacefully in Georgetown on April 26, 2012. Charles was born to Charles James Sr. and Fannie Minga Gilmore, the youngest of four children, on Jan. 6, 1921, in Beyersville, Texas. Charles was a kind and humble man who lived a life of service. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1945, being honorably discharged as a sergeant. He served the people of Texas at the State Library and Archives Commission for 31 years. And he served as an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown. He loved dogs, yard work, the Texas Longhorns, word puzzles and just about anything sweet. But nothing could compare with his love for his family. He is survived by his precious bride of 69 years, the former Esther Ruth Riethmayer; a son, Curtis, and his wife, Bonnie; a daughter, Barbara, and her husband, Elroy Anderson; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation Friday 6-8 p.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Funeral service Saturday 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Interment immediately following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery. Donations/memorials to the Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund.
