

Era “Dean” Simmons, 67 of Georgetown, died July 28, 2007 in a Austin care center. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 in the Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so beginning at 9:00 a.m. Dean was born June 7, 1940 to L.V. and Elsie May (Baldwin) Chambliss in Star City, Arkansas. She married James “Pat” Simmons, April 29, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The family traveled much due to military service. Dean was a Registered Nurse working in healthcare since 1961, retiring 3 years ago from St. David’s Georgetown Hospital. She specialized in Oncology, receiving a Bachelor’s degree from University of California-Long Beach and then her Master’s of Science from San Jose State University. She was an advocate for the hospice movement. Dean spent her free time in many activities, but enjoyed doing fine needlework. The family home is filled with many needlepoint heirlooms. Dean was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Lloyd and a sister; Dorothy. She is survived by her husband of 46 years; “Pat” of Georgetown, son; Michael Dean (Thea Fay) of Marysville, CA., brothers; Brelin (Carline) Chambliss of Greenbriar, AR., Orville (Marlene) Chambliss of Pine Bluff, AR., L.V. (Betty) Chambliss, Jr. of Pine Bluff, AR., sisters; LaVonne (Marvin) Ezell Sheridan, AR. and Catherine (John) Atkinson 0f Whitehall, AR. Grandchildren; Sean Michael, Kyle Cody, and Sara Fay Simmons all of Marysville, CA. The family suggests memorial contribution be made in her name to Hospice Austin or the charity of your choice.
