Ed Cline

A true "son of Texas", Ed was born to Edward G. Cline and Juliana R. Cline in San Antonio, Texas.

Ed was a family man who fostered and encouraged the interests, and aptitudes of all of his children and stepchildren through the years and he and Melissa heartily cheered them on as each matured and achieved successes in academics, athletics, sports, music, and later their chosen vocations.  Ed and his wife Melissa were immensely proud of each of them along the way.  When as adults, their children chose spouses and the gift of grandchildren began arriving, each grandchild was joyfully welcomed by Ed, who then lovingly became "Opa" and Melissa who lovingly became "Mamaw."  Although geographically distant, he also cheered on, from afar, his niece Rose and nephews Mostapha, Mehdi, and Hosain.  Ed arranged many big family trips to have his family together to share memorable times as evidenced by many treasured happy photos which he loved displaying all around his house.

Ed worked for decades in sales and development of electronics and computer technology as it was evolving and changing rapidly, for various companies, including Atari and Dell. He thoroughly immersed himself in the knowledge of the products he represented, often making instrumental suggestions on how a product should be improved upon to meet consumers' needs more accurately.  He took great pride in making sure he matched the correct products and services to each client whether corporate or individual. Many times, he traveled the globe aptly representing the products of his company as well as patiently teaching and explaining the newly acquired systems and products to their new owner.  He was an asset wherever he worked.

When Ed's sons were in scouting, he took an active role in their activities as a scout leader and mentor to those in his charge.  Ultimately, through his encouragement, his sons excelled to the highest level in scouting, learning many valuable life skills along the way.

Loving outdoor activities, Ed took up the hobbies of hunting, fishing, and boating, sharing his love for these activities with his sons, daughter, daughters-in-law, and more recently with his grandchildren.

Ed was a good son.  When his parents advanced in age, he dutifully took over yard and house maintenance for them as they became less able to accomplish certain heavier tasks by themselves, doing whatever he could to make life easier for them.

Ed is preceded in death by his father Edward G. Cline and his mother Juliana R. Cline.  Ed is survived by his wife of 18 years, Melissa Hill Cline; his sons by his first wife Cindy Swenson, Vincent Edward Cline, his wife Tracy and their sons Bennett, Harding, and Asher; Travis Lance Cline and his daughter Dallas,  son Luke, and step-son Kaden; and Melissa's children by her first husband Harry Rhyne, son Andrew Rhyne, his wife Erin and their son Miles; and daughter Lauren Elaine Rhyne; his sister Juli Cline Aghamoosa, her husband Amir, their daughter Rose, and their sons Mostapha Aghamoosa and his daughter, Leila; Mehdi Aghamoosa; Hosain Aghamoosa and his wife Stephanie as well as many other beloved extended family members and an abundance of friends and colleagues. 

Memorial Services as a Celebration of Life for Edward A. Cline will be held 2pm, Thursday Oct 28 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Georgetown, Texas. If you have a personal story or memory about Ed, we encourage that they be shared with those attending or with the family if you are able to do so.
