Emily Fay Torrence

Emily was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Torrence, her parents, and her sister, Gail. She is survived by her son David Torrence, daughter Janet Colmenero, son Dennis Torrence, three grandchildren Stephen, Sarabeth and Madeleine, two great-grandchildren, and her brother Lanny.

Emily was the first born of Charles Stone and Glendyn Lee Stone on February 14, 1940. A native of Eldorado, Illinois, Emily was formerly of Corpus Christi, Texas for 47 years and lived in Georgetown for 32 years.

In Corpus Christi, Emily graduated from Sundeen High School. She married her husband and best friend, Jerry Torrence, in Beeville, Texas on February 14, 1958. They were married 55 years.

Emily was first and foremost a homemaker and mother. She worked part time as a secretary for American General Life Insurance and Dodge McGraw-Hill. She volunteered for many years at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi.

Emily loved spending time with friends, reading, baking and being a grandmother. Her favorite color was turquoise, and her favorite movies were “Dr. Zhivago” and “The Way We Were.” She was a true romantic!

She was a member of The Georgetown Garden Club and Nancy’s Finders Keepers Antiques group, also of Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army, or to Hope United Church in Georgetown, Emily’s most recent congregation.

The family expresses deepest gratitude to all of Emily’s caregivers at Serenity of Shady Trails, and at Comforts of Home Hospice.

A celebration of life will take place at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N. Interstate Hwy 35, Georgetown, TX 78628 on March 21, 2026 at 2 PM.
