With hearts full of love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Gloria Ann (Naizer) Garrett, age 81, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in the early morning hours of Monday, October 12, 2026. Though our hearts ache at her passing, we find comfort in the beautiful life she lived, the love she shared, and the countless lives she touched along the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Albina (Zurovetz) Naizer.
Above all else, Gloria cherished her family. They were her greatest joy, her deepest love, and the center of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Tom “Butch” Garrett; her daughters, Stephanie Klaproth and her husband, Rick, and Teresa Stone and her husband, Sam; her grandchildren, Marissa Bonilla and her husband, Jose, Garrett Klaproth and his wife, Sarah, Miranda Klaproth, Adam Stone, and Abigail Stone; and her great-grandsons, Joseph and Russell Bonilla.
Gloria was born in Taylor, Texas, and spent her early childhood on a farm outside Circleville before moving to Fort Worth around the age of eight. She attended St. Thomas Catholic School and graduated from Trimble Tech High School.
While working at Graybar Electric, Gloria met the love of her life, Tom, and the two began a beautiful journey together. After marrying, they made their home in the Fort Worth area and started their family. In 1972, they moved to Bryan, and in 1979, they settled in Georgetown, where they built a lifetime of cherished memories.
Gloria’s life was a beautiful song of love, faith, family, and service. Music was not simply a talent for Gloria; it was a calling, a ministry, and a beautiful expression of her faith and love for others. From age ten, she shared her remarkable gifts as a pianist, organist, and singer in churches, accompanying Sunday Masses, weddings, and funerals. She devoted countless hours to planning and coordinating Christmas and Easter services, giving generously of her time and heart to help others worship and celebrate faith through music.
For many years, Gloria led the choir at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown. She later devoted nearly three decades to Santa Rosa Catholic Church, where she was eventually honored to serve as music director. Over the years, she also taught piano and voice to hundreds of children and adults. Her influence reached far beyond the music she played and the songs she sang. She inspired a love of music in countless people, most especially her own grandchildren. Whenever they gathered around her piano, the family would sing together, creating precious moments filled with laughter, love, and harmony that will remain in their hearts forever.
Gloria had an extraordinary voice, perfect pitch, and piano talent that left listeners in awe. We find comfort in knowing that Gloria’s lifelong song of faith has not ended. We imagine her now welcomed into heaven, reunited with her Creator and joining the most glorious choir of all, singing praises and declarations of love in the presence of Jesus. After a lifetime of sharing her musical gifts on earth, she is now home, free from earthly struggles and surrounded by heaven's perfect peace and joy.
Until we meet again, may she rest in Jesus' loving arms, singing forever in the heavenly choir.
