

Jack Buchanan, 69, of Georgetown passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. A service celebrating his life will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, 410 E. University Avenue, Georgetown, Texas 78626. There will be a reception following the service. Jack was born May 27, 1941 in Kirbyville, Texas to the late Henry and Mae Buchanan. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ramsey. Jack graduated from Kirbyville High School in 1959 and then from Lamar University in 1963 with a degree in Marketing. In January of 1962, he married Cynthia Woods, also of Kirbyville, Texas. He spent his career as a banking professional. In 1982, he was hired as president of Georgetown National Bank. Most recently, he founded and was Chairman of IBank Austin. Jack spent much of his free time taking trips to local construction sites with his grandson, Douglas and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Jack also enjoyed sailing, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. Jack was well-known for his generous spirit, helping others, and providing financial advice and guidance to those in need. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who cared deeply and touched many lives. He will be dearly missed. Jack is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Cynthia; son, Greg and wife Penny, and their daughter, Anna; daughter, Janie and husband David, and their children Lauren, Lindsey, and Douglas; brother, William Buchanan; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
