James Donnalley “JD” Foster, born December 13th, 1982 returned to the arms of Jesus on March 23rd, 2025. He leaves behind a grief-stricken family consisting of his parents, James Stephen and Nancy Gilbert Foster, his sister and brother in law, Abigail and Eric Capestany and his three adoring nephews Evan, Ian, and Austin Capestany. He is proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents Luella and Samuel Donnalley Gilbert and his paternal grandparents Lura “Nell” and James “Red” Foster. He is also proceeded in death by his Godfather Kenneth Hoffman and his friend George Capestany with whom he is likely playing dominos and smoking Cuban cigars in Heaven. JD proudly served in the Navy aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt until he realized he disliked being told what to do. He honorably separated from the US Navy to pursue his true passion, cooking professionally. JD’s life was lost, and his family left shattered when another driver chose to drink and drive. JD will be remembered and celebrated here on Earth until we see him again in our Heavenly home. To JD, until we see you again, fair winds and following seas. To the readers of this obituary, please do not drink and drive. The cost is too great for any family to bear.A memorial service will be held to celebrate JD’s life on Monday March 31st at 11am at Wellspring Methodist Church, 6200 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78633. He will be interned between his paternal grandparents in the Mart, Texas Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Mart, Texas with a notation that the donation is for the JAM (Jesus and me) program which is an after-school program benefiting local youth. Information about giving and JAM is available at https://fmcmart.org/.
