James "Pat" Simmons

James R. “Pat” Simmons, 70 of Georgetown, died January 9, 2008 in a Williamson County hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008 in Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown with Chaplain Dean Hamilton officiating. Pat was born December 24, 1937 to Parley R. and Ruth (Barnts) Simmons in Iowa City, Iowa. After graduating high school, Pat entered into the service of his country by joining the Air Force. He served with distinction for the next 21 years, retiring as a Tech Sergeant. He married the love of his life Era “Dean” Chambliss, April 29, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The family traveled much over Pat’s career, settling in Sunnyvale, CA. Pat went to work as communication center supervisor with defense contractor TRW/ESL for another 17 years, finally retiring in 1995. The couple settled in the Georgetown area to enjoy their retirement years. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Robert, sister; Bev. Fitpatrick, and his beloved wife; Dean, in July of 2007. He is survived by his son; Michael (Thea Fay) of Marysville, CA., brothers; Lyle Eugene (Elizabeth) of Manteca, CA., Rick (Ruth) Pierce of Hiwatha, IA., Roger Pierce of Kimball, MN., and Ray Pierce of Cedar Rapids, IA., sisters; Velma (Howard) Boots of Marion, IA. and Shirley Ehlts of Lewiston, MO., grandchildren; Sean Michael., Kyle Cody, and Sara Fay Simmons all of Marysville, CA. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
