

James Leroy Perkins, Sr. 87, of Georgetown passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He was born to Enos Leroy Perkins and Lydia Opal (Woolly) Perkins in Denison, Texas, on January 16, 1935, and he was an only child. He cherished his Oklahoma Cherokee heritage through his grandparents James Otis Woolly and Ada Catherine (Tigner) Woolly. Before retirement he was a successful businessman who manufactured and sold blasting supplies to highway contractors, and he was a local rancher.
He is survived by three children: Regina Ann Perkins, James Leroy Perkins, Jr. (Mae), Larry Adam Perkins (Phyllis) and four grandchildren: Amos James (AJ) Postell, Megan Perkins, Leanna Perkins, and Preston Perkins, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Minnie Lee Sisson, cousin Robert Harris Perkins, son-in-law Dennis Heathington and grandson Billy Ray Postell. His remains will be interred in the family plot of the Georgetown IOOF Cemetery.
