On Thursday, August 21, 2025, Janet Sue Davis was called home to heaven at the age of 85. She was born in December 1939 to George and Ruth Staring in Dallas, Texas and was an older sister to Judy, Joan, and Jerrie. In May 1961, Janet married the love of her life Roy Eugene “Gene” Davis. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before Gene was called to heaven on August 22, 2023.
Janet was blessed with five beautiful children – Keith, Rusty, Valerie, Michael and Charla. For over 50 years, Janet was very active in her Dallas prayer group, even after she had moved from Dallas. Once her children were grown, Janet became a Registered Nurse. In 1994, Janet and Gene moved to the Austin area to enjoy semi-retirement in the Hill Country, and most importantly to be closer to their grandchildren. In 2000, Janet supported Gene as he became a Deacon for the Diocese of Austin. They were both active in ministry at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, and later at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Janet gave her time, talent and treasure, and most especially, her prayers to all those in need. By 2004, Janet and Gene had ten grandchildren in Georgetown, Texas, Dallas, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri. Janet and Gene then moved to Georgetown to live down the street from their grandchildren. By 2024, Janet had eight great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Janet’s love, life and legacy will continue to be remembered by her children, Rusty Johnson and his wife Sherri of Marco Island, Florida, Michael Davis and his wife Holly of Dallas, Texas, and Charla Parks of Georgetown, Texas; her grandchildren, Hannah Parks Perry and her husband Sean, Jacob Parks, Mary Parks Hansen and her husband Mitchell, Eliza Davis Carney and her husband Will, Ashley Johnson, Emilie Parks, Evan Davis, Lauren Johnson, John Parks and Catherine Parks; her great-grandchildren Jesse Parks, Ava Parks, Harper Hansen, Gabriel Parks, Lily Hansen, Emmett Hansen, Lucas Parks and Maeve Hansen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
The visitation will be on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 6 pm at Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, TX, followed by a rosary at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Corn Hill in Jarrell, TX on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The burial will follow at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown, then lunch and reception at St. Helen Catholic Church parish hall.
