Janie Suniga Montemayor, 79 of Austin, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Granbury, Texas. Janie was born the daughter of Angelo Montemayor, Sr. and Catalina Suniga Montemayor on May 16, 1938. She was a member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church in Austin. She loved to sew and quilt and was widely known as “The Tamale Lady”, per the delicious tamales she made and sold. Janie retired from Jack Brown Cleaners in Austin after over 40 years of employment. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her siblings, Angelo Montemayor Jr. and wife Mary, Alex Montemayor and wife Marsha, Cruz Montemayor and wife Irene, Lupe Montemayor and wife Linda, Tody Valdez, and Susie Grajales and husband Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews; along with many other loving family members and friends.A visitation will be held, Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 6 to 7PM with a Rosary from 7 to 8PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory.Funeral Mass will be held, 10AM, Monday, April 30, 2018, at St. Helen Catholic Church with burial to follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Texas.
