Jim proudly served four years in the United States Navy and later graduated from The University of Texas. He went on to work in Information Technology for the State of Texas. Jim will be remembered as a funny, gifted storyteller who could make anyone laugh and keep a room captivated with his stories. He had a deep appreciation for history and wildlife, and he was especially passionate about the art of falconry—a unique interest that reflected his curiosity, patience, and love for the natural world.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Evelyn Hudson; his daughter, April Ellis; and his grandson, Donovan Ellis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Sue Hudson; his children, Sheila Asher (Eddie), Jeff Irby, Chad Durham, Viola Bell (Eric), and David Osborne; and his grandchildren, Malia Castillo-Fields (Clinton), Mariah Castillo, Milla Castillo, Trey Castillo, Zachary Lohrding, Kirsten Ellis, and Kaytlin Osborn.
Jim was dearly loved by Brenda Sue’s family and held a special place in their hearts.
He is also survived by his siblings, Brent Hudson (Tammy) and Brenda Walker (Kent), along with niece and nephews Baylee Jones (Sean), Austin Hudson, and Gentry Walker.
Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory, located at 393 N Interstate Hwy 35, Georgetown, TX, 78628, United States. The event is scheduled for February 7, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
