John Jeffrey Cortinas Rodriguez

John Jeffrey Rodriguez  “J.R” was born on May 8, 1987 and passed away on August 25, 2020. He passed away in Temple Texas. A Vigil will be held on August 31, 2020 for him from 6pm to 8 pm, Rosary at 7 pm at Gabriel’s Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Georgetown ,Texas. Liturgy of the Word will be at 10:00 a.m. September 1, 2020. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, also in Georgetown.

J.R. attended school in Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School. He worked as a motorman for Savannah Drilling. He then came to work in Austin as an Alarm Tech. He was an ordained minister “Reverend Rodriguez”, and married many couples.

J.R. was truly a loving, fun, spirited, compassionate person.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and doing outdoor activities. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, and spend time at the lake. He enjoyed antiquing, collecting, and most of all making people laugh.

His truest joy in life was being a father to J.W. and father figure to Hailey. He loved telling stories of his kids and their growing achievements in life.

J.R is survived by (Mother) Elizabeth Gonzales, (Stepfather) Marshall, (Father) John Rodriguez, (Stepmother) Rose, Barbara (Mother of J.W. and Hailey) John Wayne “J.W”, Hailey Duncan, (Brother) Lee Gonzales, (Sister) Christina Braniff, (Justin), 4 nephews, Chris, Justin, Jake, Eric, (Half-sister) Dolores Rodriguez,(Niece) Lola, (Nephew) Jack, (Half-sister) Annalicia (Phillip).  (Grandparents)  Frederico & Maria Cortinas, (Uncle) Fred Cortinas, (aunt/ uncle ) Kim and Richard Bowman, 3 cousins, Nick, Federica, and Gabriel, (aunt/uncle) Maria and Francesco Preda ,2 cousins, Alessandro and Bianca.

J.R. will be truly missed by all.
