John Stephen Faulk, age 76, of Pflugerville, went home into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2026, after extended illnesses. John was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 22, 1950, the son of John Dillon Faulk and Anna Lea Swimme Faulk. John spent his childhood in many different cities throughout the United States, as well as in Germany, the Phillipines, and Japan, as the son of an Air Force fighter pilot. He met his wife, Linda in 1969, while a student at the University of Texas in Austin. They married on September 12, 1970, and have lived in the Austin area since. John graduated with a BA in Accounting from UT, and although he wanted to be a pilot like his dad, it was not to be. John went into sales, and later became a real estate broker, most recently with Coldwell Banker. He owned a small business, John Faulk Property Management. John was naturally gregarious and loved to help people. He was often described as a real estate counselor, rather than a salesman.
In 2009, John began volunteering with the summer musicals at Zilker Hillside Theater. He became instrumental in making improvements to the venue, including making it ADA accessible. For several years, John worked as a fundraiser and liaison for Zilker Theater Productions and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. In 2011, Zilker created the John S. Faulk Award for the individual or business that has contributed the most to the upkeep of local theaters and venues. He also worked with the Magnolia Musical Theatre in Bee Cave, Texas
John's love for the Lord and his love of music led him to sing in several church choirs, praise teams, and for a short time, he served as a worship leader at Milwood Baptist Church. He also started a children's choir there called Music Makers, for which he wrote three musicals. He also wrote many songs for worship and VBS, and served in the music ministry in three churches in Austin. He had a beautiful baritone voice and a gift for playing piano "by ear".
John's greatest love was for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His family was his greatest joy. He was so proud of his son, Kevin, daughter-in-law, Bethany, and his eight grandchildren, who gave him such delight and pride. Nieces, nephews, cousins, friends...kids of all ages loved him for his silliness and banter, and somehow he always ended up at the kid's table at gatherings. We will all miss him so much.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Dillon Faulk, and brothers-in-law, Durward Eubanks and James Daniel.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Eubanks Faulk; son Kevin (Bethany) and the grandchildren he dearly loved; Jack, Dominic, Duncan, Tessa, Justin, Travis, Kit, and Rilla. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Lea Faulk; brother, Richard Alan Faulk; sister, Linda Nuber (Chuck); sister, Susan Haynes (Bill); sister-in-law, Maxine Daniel; brother-in-law, Charles Eubanks (Dorthy), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral and remembrance service will be at First Baptist Church Pflugerville on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 2 pm. Graveside service will be at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 4 pm.
