John William (Jack) Glover Junior was born in Florence, Texas, in the shadow of Hog Mountain on January 16, 1939, to John William Glover Sr. and Bertha Mae Willis Glover. He married the love of his life Betty Jo Hood, on January 23, 1960. He went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2023.
He is survived by his brother Frank Glover; his three sons, Billy Jack Glover and his wife Sherry; Joe William Glover and his wife Terrie, James Robert (Bobby) Glover and his wife Mary Jane; 8 grandchildren, 6 grandchildren-in-law; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jack’s primary occupation was as a cowboy and a sheep shearer. He loved spending time with his sons working with the livestock, coaching, and rodeoing. He loved all of his family, and he was loved by them in return. Everyone was welcome in Jack and Bettie’s home, whether it be stray boys, rodeo hands, or friends just needing a place to land. He was an extraordinary man in all aspects. He served his church as a deacon and was a founding member of the Maxdale Cowboy Church.
He left this world looking to another; he was riding, roping, singing, and talking to loved ones who were present and many who were not. He rests safely in the arms of Jesus, where he is looking onto fields that always have good grass, tanks that are full of water, and fat calves lying in the sunshine. The books are closed for the season, and it’s time for you to rest; goodnight, Dad, we’ll see you in the morning.
