Kenneth Gene Loudermilk passed away on March 21, 2026 in Georgetown, Texas, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by service, faith, and a deep love for others.
Kenneth was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, to Naolen and Christine Loudermilk. His formative years were spent in Tucson, Arizona, and Lompoc, California, before his family later settled in Greenwood, Arkansas—a place he proudly considered home and fondly referred to as “God’s country.”
In August 1965, Kenneth began what would become a remarkable and far-reaching career in the United States Army. He served honorably in Vietnam and at posts around the world. A gifted aviator, Ken piloted both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Among his many accomplishments, he proudly commanded the 146th Aviation Company, which earned the distinguished Aviation Company of the Year award during his leadership.
Kenneth’s service also took him to the Pentagon, where he worked in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, and later to Fort Meade, Maryland, where he served as Executive Officer of the CONUS Military Group. Across every role, he was known for his integrity, leadership, and sharp wit. After more than 20 years of honorable service to his country, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1987, closing a chapter marked by commitment, achievement, and a deep sense of duty.
Following his military career, Kenneth continued his professional journey in the private sector. He worked with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Perot Industries, and ultimately retired as a Vice President from ManTech Corporation, completing a second successful career marked by leadership and dedication.
In 1978, Kenneth married the love of his life, Ann Marie Loudermilk. Together they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. He adored her deeply and often joked that she was “way too good for him,” a reflection of both his humor and his gratitude for their life together.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Marie Loudermilk; his children: Jason Loudermilk and wife Beth, along with their children Marley and Vivian; Rachel Loudermilk and husband Wesley Sweatman, along with their child Michael; and Chris Loudermilk and wife Brandy, along with their children Samantha and Bree. He is also survived by his sisters, Dawn (Bud) Meredith, Michelle (Gary) Smith, and Theresa Goins and many beloved Nieces and Nephews.
Kenneth was known for his generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need, earning him the family nickname “Good Samaritan Ken.” A strong and faithful Catholic, he was actively involved in Holy Trinity Catholic Church and lived his faith through service to others.
He loved his family deeply and considered his friends an extension of that family. Kenneth had a vibrant personality. He lit up every room he entered and was always ready to celebrate life with those around him. He loved to travel, spend time with friends and family, and embrace every opportunity for joy and connection.
He lived by his favorite sayings, “Life is good!” and “It doesn’t get any better,” and was always ready with a friendly wager—“I’ll bet you a dollar.”
Kenneth will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, his unwavering faith, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
