Larry Don Burkett

Larry Don Burkett, 57 of Liberty Hill, died June 14, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH-35 in Georgetown with Pastor Anthony Van Noy of Faith Tabernacle officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Henry Dusek, Leroy Champlin, David Havins, David Posten, David Seymour, and Will O’Quinn. Interment will follow in Gabriels Mills Cemetery. Larry Don was born November 9, 1950 to Sam Burkett and Rena Petty in Levelland. Larry was a compassionate and understanding man who loved God, family, and friends deeply. He was a wonderful example to many of what a father is and should be. He strived everyday to live life to its fullest. Larry was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf and he followed in his mother’s footsteps by developing a passion for traveling and casinos. Larry served his country as a member of the Air Force in the 1970’s. He worked for the Trane company in McGregor for 15 years. At the time of his passing, he was building a home on his father’s ranch in Liberty Hill. Larry Don was preceded in death by his mother; Rena Petty and step-father; Allen Edward Petty. He is survived by his fiancé; Lisa Webb, father; Sam Burkett, sister; JoAnn Alexander, half-brother; Andy Burkett, children; Todd Burkett and wife Linda, Iris Burkett, Justin Burkett, Holli Burkett, Elizabeth Burkett, Robin Skinner and husband Seth, grandchildren Eric and Shiann, Craig, Joey, Jasmine and Lisa. Memorials may be made to: Larry Burkett scholarship fund/Florence FFA recipient at Union State Bank in Florence or to P.O. Box 212 Florence, TX. 76527. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the funeral home.
