Lauren Nicole Brown passed away at her home in Georgetown on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, surrounded by her heartbroken family. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11am at First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, with Pastor Yvonne Coon officiating. Lauren was born on September 16, 1970 at Lakenheath Air Force Base in Suffolk, England to Joseph and Barbara Heer. She spent twelve years of her childhood in Europe, each summer visiting her English grandparents and cousins. Lauren became a great fan of English Literature especially books by Jane Austen, and in fact she would later name her two daughters after characters in her favorite Austen novel " Pride and Prejudice". These were not simpering females, but strong women as she hoped her daughters would become. Lauren's career as an HRO specialist brought her to Austin in 1999. The best part of her relocation was meeting Gregory Brown at her office. On October 1, 2002, she and Greg were married in Georgetown, Texas. Lauren's real career began in 2003 when their first daughter Elizabeth was born, followed in 2007 by her sister Charlotte. She was truly born to be a mother; she planned the best birthday parties, helped with homework and created a new fun tradition each holiday. She read to her daughters every day, and as they grew listened to them as they read to her also. She managed to instill a love of books in them at an early age, which was so important to her. Even while struggling with her illness she served as a Girl Scout leader and was always a willing volunteer and fully involved in their education at Gateway College Preparatory School Shared memories of Lauren will include her dancing in the kitchen to cheer Greg after a tough day at work, her wonderful smile, her great sense of humor and quick wit, and her kindness and consideration for others especially her parents. Lauren leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband, Greg; her parents, Joseph and Barbara Heer; her daughters, Elizabeth and Charlotte Brown; sister, Teresa Nystrom and husband William of Belmont, CA; in-laws, August and Sylvia Brown of Pinehurst, NC; sister-in-law, Cindy Connors and husband Barry of Sharon, MA and brother-in-law, Doug Brown of Greensboro, NC and a host of other loving family and friends.
