Leona Christine Foster, lovingly known to most as Leona, 81, of Georgetown, passed away on Wednesday, June 13th, 2012. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown. Leona was born on December 27th, 1930 in Palacios, Texas. She was orphaned at a young age; her grandmother lovingly took her in and raised her to adulthood. Leona spent most of her life in the Houston area. There she operated several local bars, Capital Bar and Bonnie’s being the two she ran the longest. Leona moved to Georgetown about 23 years ago and worked for The Wesleyan for a period of time in housekeeping. She enjoyed being around people, working as a sales clerk at Circle K for many years until she retired. Leona loved her children and her grandchildren; she enjoyed family get togethers and spending time with them fishing and swimming. In most recent times she found peace and comfort watching the birds and squirrels in her yard. Over the years Leona enjoyed the companionship of her canine and feline friends, including “Pretty Boy”, “Susie”, “Mummy Dog”, “Momma Kitty”, and “Nuisance”. Leona leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving five children: Cynthia Austin, Patty Walden and husband John, David Lane and wife Lynn, Janet Lane and Cheri Jenkins; her ten grandchildren: Angela Pate, Leah Larson, Stacy Morgan, Kristy Lane, Melissa Young, Corey Lane, Melissa Hannah, Jessica Hannah, Timothy Jenkins, and T. C. Jenkins; along with thirteen great grandchildren and a host of other loving friends. Personal words of comfort may be sent to the family online at www.gabrielsfuneral.com.
