

She was born on December 18, 1950, in Bertram, Texas, to Leonard and Laverne Berry. A gifted student, Linda graduated as valedictorian of the Liberty Hill High School Class of 1969. After completing her studies at Nixon-Clay Business College, she began her career with the Merit System and went on to serve the State of Texas for more than 30 years, retiring from the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission in 2002.
Linda had a lifelong love of music and began playing the piano for her church at the age of 13. She served as pianist and organist for First Baptist Church of Liberty Hill until 1991 and continued sharing her musical talents with family and friends for many years thereafter. For 35 years, she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Round Rock, where she devoted her time to Bible study and faithfully supported various sewing and mission ministries.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Peterson, her parents, and three siblings.
She is survived by her son, William J. Seward and wife Missy of Austin; daughters Melanie Boekee and husband Dirk-Jan of Sydney, Australia, and Holly Land and husband Jeremy of Waco; stepson Matthew Peterson of Georgetown; grandchildren Abrianna Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Robin Land, and William Land; and great-grandchildren Isaac, Lilith, and Kayson.
A memorial service celebrating Linda's life will be held at First Baptist Church Round Rock on September 5, 2026. Memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be made to First Baptist Church Round Rock or the Texas Baptist Children’s Home.
