

Louise Evelyn Cox, 78, of Florence, passed away April 27, 2013. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 6, 2013, at 11:00 am, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Interment will follow at The Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, at 1:00 pm. Louise was born March 10, 1935 in North Hebron, New York to Bennett Barrett and Evelyn Burch. She married Stanley Cox in March of 1952. Stanley and Louise traveled to many different places such as Germany, Holland, Scotland, England, and lived in Alaska due to Stanley being in the Air Force. While their stay in Alaska, Louise participated in The Powder Puff Derby, which was stock car racing, and she was known for her lead foot. Louise also enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, knitting, and even had a craft room where she would invent her own things. She would make Christmas trees, blankets, clothes, and decorations. Louise even made a dollhouse for her grandchildren that had furniture and decorations filling the inside, all of which she made. She was a manager at Zales jewelry store for many years, and upon retiring she and Stanley moved from Austin to the home they built together in Florence. They were married for 61 years. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Harry and Glenn. She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley; daughter Christina; son Mitchell and wife Kris; grandchildren Michael and Shaun Thompson and Jessica and Cody Cox; great grandchildren Alexandra, Jackson, and Brandon; and sisters Emma and Pearl. Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice.
