Luis Manuel Molina

Luis Molina fue un hombre trabajador de visión y fortaleza. Eligió vivir para su familia y siempre quizo brindarles la mejor vida posible. Luis nació en Placetas, Cuba, el 18 de noviembre de 1957. Era un poco rebelde en su adolescencia solia escuchar el rock and roll americano y montar su motocicleta por las calles de su ciudad natal. Se casó con su amada esposa Magaly en 1983. El vivio en Placetas y trabajó como mecánico en una fábrica, pero siempre soñó con mudarse con su familia a los Estados Unidos. Sentía que podían tener una mejor vida y que su única hija tendría oportunidades que simplemente no eran posible en Cuba. Para lograr esto, en el año 2000, solicitó un sorteo de visas para que se le permitiera salir legalmente del país. En 2001 ganó su visa y tomó la decisión de mudarse a los Estados Unidos solo; dejando a toda su familia detras con la esperanza de que algún día los tendria con él. Al mudarse a los Estados Unidos, eligio vivir en Austin, Texas. Inmediatamente se puso a trabajar como técnico de mantenimiento en el Double Tree y más tarde en el Hotel Omni SouthPark. Llamaba a su familia en Cuba a menudo y enviaba lo que podía para asegurarse de que nunca perdieran la esperanza. Tan pronto como fue elegible, en 2009, solicitó y recibió su ciudadanía estadounidense. Esto era algo de lo que hablaba a menudo y seguramente fue uno de sus momentos de mayor orgullo. Poco después de esto, solicitó que su hija, Maylin, se mudara de Cuba para comenzar una nueva vida en Estados Unidos. En 2010 esto fue concedido, y ella hizo el viaje para vivir con su padre. Luis finalmente había tenido éxito en su objetivo de vida más valioso. En 2017, con mucho orgullo, Luis vio a su hija graduarse de Texas State College con una licenciatura en enfermería. Luis fue el hombre más feliz del mundo el 17 de noviembre de 2018 cuando vio a su hija casarse con el amor de su vida; y el 25 de mayo de 2019, al descubrir que su hija estaba embarazada de un niño. La alegría y el orgullo en su rostro eran inconfundibles. Luis fallecio al día siguiente el 26 de mayo de 2019. Fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Luis Alberto y Delia. Le sobreviven su esposa Magaly y su hija Maylin Mitchell; su hermano Alberto Molina y sus tres hijos Alain, Adrian y Antuan Molina, su hermana Carmen y sus dos hijos Jorge y Alberto Ramos.Luis deja un legado de determinación para todos los que lo conocieron. Nunca dejó que nada se interpusiera en sus sueños. Una generación entera de su familia ahora tiene la oportunidad de crecer sin límites en un lugar que él sentía que pertenecían y merecían. Se le echará mucho de menos, pero permanecerá para siempre en el corazón de su familia y amigos.

English Translation: 

Luis Molina was a hardworking man of vision and strength. He chose to live for his family and was driven every day to provide them the best life possible. Luis was born in Placetas, Cuba on November 18th, 1957.  He was a bit of a rebel in his teens listening to American rock n’ roll and racing his motorcycle through the streets of his hometown. He married his loving wife Magaly in 1983. He stayed in Placetas and worked as a mechanical repairman at a factory, but he always had a dream of moving his family to the United States. He felt there, they could have a better life and his only daughter would have opportunities that just weren’t possible in Cuba. To accomplish this, in the year 2000, he applied for a Visa lottery in Cuba to be allowed to legally leave the country. In 2001 he won his Visa and made the life changing decision to move to the United States by himself; leaving his entire family in hopes of one day moving them with him. He ended up choosing to live in Austin, Texas when he arrived. He immediately got to work as an engineering maintenance man at the Double Tree and later the Omni SouthPark Hotels. He called his family in Cuba often and sent what he could to ensure that they never lost hope. As soon as he was eligible, in 2009, he applied for and received his American citizenship. This was something he spoke of often and was surely one of his proudest moments. Shortly after this, he petitioned to have his daughter, Maylin, moved from Cuba to start a new life in America. In 2010 this was granted, and she made the journey to live with her father. He always made sure that she knew it would take hard work and perseverance to be successful here but had no doubt that she could do it. Luis also petitioned to have his wife moved to Austin, and in 2012 she arrived, at last, and reunited with her husband and daughter. By 2015, Luis had helped most of his family move from Cuba to the United States including his younger brother Alberto and his nephews. Luis had finally succeeded in his most valued life goal. In 2017, with much pride, Luis watched his daughter graduate from Texas State College with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Luis was the happiest man in the world on November 17th, 2018 as he walked his daughter down the aisle to marry the love of her life; and on May 25th, 2019 as he found out his daughter was pregnant with a boy. The joy and pride on his face was unmistakable. Luis passed the next day on May 26th, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents Luis Alberto and Delia. He is survived by his wife Magaly and daughter Maylin Mitchell; his brother Alberto Molina and three sons Alain, Adrian, and Antuan Molina, his sister Carmen and her two sons Jorge and Alberto Ramos. Luis leaves behind a legacy of true determination for all that knew him. He never let anything get in the way of his dreams. An entire generation of his family now has the chance to grow without bounds in a place that he felt they belonged and deserved. He will be missed sorely but will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held 10AM, Monday, June 3, 2019, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory with burial to follow at Our Lady of The Rosary Cemetery.

A visiation will be held 5-7PM, Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the funeral home.
