

Margaret Elaine Palmer, 75 of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 with her family at her side, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A service celebrating Margaret’s life and her faith will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 2:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. Margaret’s family will have a private burial at a later date in New York. Margaret was born June 21, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was raised in the Poughkeepsie area and lived there and in Staatsburg, New York most of her life. Margaret enjoyed over 40 years with her love and her companion Robert Oakley, they moved to the Georgetown area over 16 years ago. Together Robert and Margaret built a family together and loved to travel to the Coast of Texas and into Mexico. Margaret enjoyed bowling on the Seniors League at Interstate Lanes in Round Rock. With her green thumb she was able to grow a variety of beautiful Hibiscus that she and her friends and family enjoyed and will cherish. Margaret, in most recent years, enjoyed scrapbooking. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents. Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving companion of over 40 years, Robert Oakley; her son, Jason Palmer and his fiancée Rosa Ramos; her brother, Stivey and her beloved granddaughter, Emy Rose; along with several other family members and a host of loving friends. Margaret was able to beat the initial onset of breast cancer and her family request memorial donations in her name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Foundation to further the research for a cure for cancer.
