

Mary Reece Hobbs, of Georgetown, TX, passed away on February 14th, 2020. She was born in Mineral Wells, TX to Luther Calvin Dean and Elva Beatrice Dean. Mary is survived by Eldon Hobbs, her husband of 66 years; her sons Michael B. Hobbs and wife Giuli Coniglio of Maryville, MO; Douglas L. Hobbs of Pflugerville, TX; David B. Hobbs and wife Cynthia of Levelland, TX; Richard G. Hobbs and wife Jennifer of Lostine, OR; and daughter Denise Tolbert and husband Scott of Jarrell, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren Justin and Travis Hobbs and Audra Baker-Hobbs; Lindsey Carr and Rebecca Chambers; Nicole and Ethan Tolbert; Sebastian, Foster, and Emrys Hobbs; Giannino and Lorenzo Coniglio; along with eight great-grandchildren.
Mary was a long-time resident of Lubbock then moved to Georgetown in 1983. She was a graduate of Lubbock High School and earned her Bachelors of Education degree from Texas Tech University. Mary was a teacher, poet, and writer. She was a founding member of the San Gabriel Writers’ League. Local churches attended were First Presbyterian and St. John’s United Methodist.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Mary especially loved baking and reading with her grandchildren.
To honor her memory, a memorial service is being held at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Georgetown, TX on Saturday, February 29th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, National Wildlife Federation, or The Caring Place of Georgetown.
