Nancy Dian Browder, 68, of Georgetown, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 after a courageous fight with ALS. Nancy’s family will gather for a time of support and visitation on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Home, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown. A service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, October 1, 2012 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Andice Cemetery, Andice, Texas. Nancy was born September 4, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Lester Steven and Lelah Janet Funderburk Reid. Nancy was only 8 years old when she and her family moved to the Georgetown area. She attended and graduated from Georgetown High School. Nancy worked at Greenways Drive-In as a Car-Hop, it was there she met her future husband, Lynn Howell Browder. Nancy and Lynn were married on February 27, 1988 in Georgetown, TX. Nancy enjoyed watching horse racing and spending time with her family. Nancy worked as a Bookkeeper for Magnum Trailers and Georgetown Jet Center. Nancy worked for over 24 years as an Executive Administrative Assistant for Georgetown Savings and Loan. Throughout her life, Nancy attended First Baptist Church of Georgetown and Main Street Baptist Church. The last 25 years of her life, Nancy spent spoiling Lynn and her loving shih tzu, Rowdy. She did a great job. Lynn knows she is now in the arms of the Lord. Rowdy is still looking. Nancy never owned a race horse (fast or slow) that she wouldn’t bet on or a slot machine that she was afraid of. She played them all the way from Mississippi to California and then on the way back home again. She enjoyed gambling but never let it get out of hand, she always took care of her responsibilities and family first. Nancy was always making sure others were taken care of first. Nancy fought ALS the last three years of her life as hard as she ever faced any other problems in her life. She was determined to make sure all the details were arranged before she went on to be with the Lord, right down to picking her own cemetery plot and head stone. Her determination to beat ALS was an inspiration to many. Lynn admits he never won a single argument he and Nancy every had, it is his wish she would have been able to win the fight against her disease. Nancy is survived by her husband of over 24 years, Lynn Browder; her children, Roger Baker, Rex Baker and his wife Cathy, and Robert Baker; her grandchildren, Brandi Johnson, Randy Baker & his wife Jennifer, Jessica Baker, Rebecca Baker, Nickolas Baker, Tanner Baker, and Ryan Baker; her great grandchildren, Michael Corn, Tylan Corn, Joshua Baker and Cayden Baker; along with numerous other loving family members. Memorial donations in Nancy’s memory should be sent to the ALS Foundation to further research. Personal words of comfort may be sent to the family online at www.gabrielsfuneral.com.
