

Pedro graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. After graduation, he attended several colleges: Durham Business College, where he received his diploma and Certificate in Architectural Design; Arizona State University to study Law Enforcement and Mediation courses; St. Edwards University, majoring in Business Management; Austin Community college where he received his Associates of Science Degree in Applied Business Management. Pedro was also a commissioned security officer.
He served in the United States Marine Corps, going in as a private in 1962, serving until 1966, serving in the Vietnam War and was also a member of Military police in Yuma, Arizona. When he completed his service, he was a Sergeant.
He married his wife, Elena Contreras, in 1965 spending 55 years together. He was Godparent to 25 Godchildren for their Baptismal, First Communion, and Confirmation.
He worked for the Electric Department for the City of Austin where he worked his way up from Drafter Trainee to an Engineering assistant. That position made him responsible for teaching and training other people. He developed a handbook of guidelines and procedures for standardization of the electric utility maps. From this position he worked his way up to the automated computer graphics group that was the City of Austin Electrical Designs Division. Pedro drafted the entire range of engineering drawings from freehand sketches to highly complex detail also structural assembly drawings and their related materials list, technical drawing equipment, use of reproduction equipment and dimensioning. Engineering drawings included ortho graphics, pictorial, auxiliary and sectional, engineering charts, graphs and visuals for the Designs division and Administrative division (too numerous to list). He retired as an Engineering Associate and Senior Consumer Representative.
His hobbies included music, reading, jogging, running at the YMCA, road trips, and he had a love of basketball. Pedro loved traveling with Elena and helping her with church functions. He was a part of the men’s club at St. Helen Catholic church. He helped to care for his in-laws whom he loved very much.
