Pete G. Blansit

He was born to Mary Louise Key and Clem Clay Blansit on February 2nd, 1924, in Hamilton, Texas.

After graduating from Hamilton High School, Pete joined the United States Military on January 8th, 1943. He entered the branch of the army as a Tech 5, Battery A 468th anti-aircraft artillery unit. He had several specialty assignments as a radio operator 3601, driver, and mechanic. Pete served with pride in World War II during the Normandy invasion, landing on “Omaha Beach” a few weeks after “D-Day”. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge close to the end of his deployment. His time serving in WWII was one of the most impactful experiences in his life. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal; E.A.M.E campaign medal with 5 bronze stars; Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He truly was a part of the “greatest generation”. Pete was honorably discharged from service on December 5th, 1945.

Pete had many gifts and talents. He served in the U.S Civil Service for 30 years as a paint and body man as well as a machinist.  He was the foreman of the machine shop the last five years.  He had several hobbies: a leather worker, gunsmith, and a wood carver. He strived for perfection in everything he did.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Clem Clay and Mary Louise Blansit; his first wife Norma Lee Blansit; his youngest son Steve Blansit; and his brother John Blansit; brother-in-law John Fox.  He is survived by: his loving wife of 17 years, Ruth Ellen Young Blansit. His daughter Marsha Meek and her husband Michael Hurst of San Antonio, Texas.  His son Dennis Blansit and wife Pam of Georgetown, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kimberly Lemeilleur Wolff and husband Justin Wolff; Laren Lemeilleur Sharp and husband Michael Sharp; Christina Senclair; Rebecca Mullen and husband Troy Mullen; Lindsey Blansit Doherty and husband Sean Doherty; Melissa Blansit; Jaime Blansit.  He is survived by his great grandchildren: Conner Sharp; Madeline Sharp; Mackenzie Wolff; Kylie Senclair; Kaleb Senclair; Korey Senclair; Cora Doherty; Everett Doherty; sister-in-law Betty Jean Fox and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Vicky Shenefield of Spring Hill, Florida; Cindi Grossman of St. Cloud, Florida; George Young and wife Judy of Andrews, Indiana; Debbie Smith and husband Jim of FT. Wayne, Indiana. Step-Grandchildren: Steven, Esther, Tara, Amanda, David, Michael, Michele, Julie, Brandi, Matthew, Marissa, Mariah. 

The most important thing he would want you to know is his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His long and blessed life was a gift from God. He will be missed so much but we rejoice in the fact that he is finally home.
